Here are brief summary of projects I have worked on in the US and internationally:


Federal Projects,

Representative project includes:

Naval Research Laboratory Geotechnical Investigation, Washington, DC – Served as geotechnical engineer to complete subsurface investigations and evaluation and make geotechnical recommendations for the new hydraulic crane addition at the Robotics Lab of Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) in Washington D.C.  Responsible for preparing geotechnical report and reviewing laboratory results.   

Land Development Projects,  
Representative projects include:

Parcel 39 at Westfields, Chantilly, Virginia – Served as geotechnical engineer to prepare a geotechnical analysis report for a development consisting of four office buildings, parking garages, associated surface parking, and utility and infrastructure design. 

Lorton Virginia Railway Express (VRE) Parking Lot Expansion, Fairfax County, Virginia – As geotechnical engineer, prepared geotechnical report for a parking lot expansion project to increase existing capacity by approximately 150 parking spaces.  Reviewed and analyzed field boring logs, lab results, final grading/site plans, and geological records.

Tapawingo Road Mixed-Use Development, Vienna, Virginia –As a project engineer, provided special inspection oversight during construction of a mixed-use development comprised of retail space, apartments, and underground parking.  Prepared a construction status report with recommendations.Type your paragraph here.


Transportation Projects, 
Representative projects include:

E. Capitol Bridge (Whitney Young Bridge) Rehabilitation, Washington, DC – Project engineer for an 1,800-foot-long bridge with six lanes (82 feet wide), fifteen-span simply supported, two-girder superstructure system.  Completed engineering analyses for various stratification units at proposed project locations, and performed analyses used for preliminary recommendations.  Scope of services included drilling two land borings and three river borings, performing laboratory tests, and preparing a geotechnical report to assess existing subsurface conditions and recommend rehabilitation planning.  Three of the geotechnical borings were drilled in the Anacostia River from the bridge deck.

Franconia-Springfield Metro Rail Station Access Improvements, Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, Springfield, Virginia – Project entailed final detailed design based on a concept developed to address bus terminal capacity, bicycle and pedestrian access, and safety and access improvements at Franconia-Springfield Metro Rail Station.  Served as project engineer for a subsurface investigation and geotechnical report detailing subsurface geological conditions.  Provided recommendations for pavement, cantilever retaining wall design, and earthwork preparations.  An initial geotechnical investigation was conducted to support a pre-engineered, open-concept bus canopy system, cantilever retaining wall, and pavement design.

Metro Lines Design, Tehran Metropolitan and Suburban Metrorail Transit, Tehran, Iran – As project engineer, assisted with design development of 18-km third line Metro network in the Greater Tehran Metropolitan Area.  Technical assistance entailed analysis and design of these lines, including access ramps, tunnel galleries, temporary stabilized retaining walls and supporting soldier structures, permanent lining and rectifier structures, escalators and platform, and ticket sales hall slab, based on ACI and LRFD guidelines.  Project encompassed planning, surveying, structural and geotechnical engineering, design, procurement, management, and construction of Lines 3 and 7 of Tehran’s Metro transit system.


Utility Infrastructure Projects,
​Representative projects include:

Open-Ended Civil Engineering Services Contract, Loudoun County, Virginia – Served as geotechnical engineer for a task-ordered contract involving multidisciplinary engineering services for capital improvement projects.  Responsible for geotechnical report and analysis addressing subsurface conditions for the proposed transit connector bridge at the Route 772 Metro Station. 

South Fars Combined Cycle Power Generating Plant Facilities, South Fars, Iran – As a senior staff engineer, assisted in development of advanced engineering models to analyze circular/cylinder shaped power plants, and provided technical design assistance for different components of the structure.  Recommended alternatives for foundation systems design for the structure consisting of piles and battered piles.  Performed multiple analyses to ensure design considerations were met and satisfied for the foundation components.  Project role involved engineering services; project control and management; procurement and supply of required equipment; and preparing guidelines, implementation drawings, and technical documents for construction of two combustion power generation units at South Fars. 
 

Park and Recreational Projects,
Representative project includes:

Oxon Run Parkway Trail Rehabilitation, Washington, DC – As project engineer, evaluated subsurface conditions for a 2.5-mile, multi-use trail system that extends through Oxon Run Park in Ward 8 of the District of Columbia.  Work included drilling ten borings in the pavement construction area, performing laboratory tests, and preparing a geotechnical report that assessed subsurface conditions, earthwork, and new pavement recommendations for the proposed trail.  This project was used to guide overall improvements of the trail network system in Oxon Run Park, while also identifying specific improvements for trail segments in need of rehabilitation.Type your paragraph here.
